The season for Sweet Pea flowers is upon us. Love the scent of these. Have some growing myself, too. My first time growing them. These are from someones yard in Fort Bragg in this photo though.

Pigeon Flight

Took this with my new camera my kids bought me for my birthday and then added a pretty background. I can see I am going to have lots of fun with this new camera and the new things I am learning about editing photos, too. Yay!

Bench on side of city hall

This bench has little inlaid tiles. Very nice. Plus quiet place to sit and contemplate whatever you need to contemplate.

This is where the pretty roses are

This is where that rose flower was taken around and behind this sign near city hall. Very nice area to sit at. I will post the bench photo next.
Happy August 22, 2009

It has been a nice summer this year. We have had some days with fog and clouds, but then other nice and sunny days, too. Still not cold enough to put the heater on which makes it nice to save on energy bills. The photo is of a pretty rose near city hall behind the congressman Mike Thompson building.

Summer Post
I have been enjoying our summer. We have been having some beautiful days here. This would have to be one of the best times on the coasts for those of you wanting to cool off from the hotter areas. It is warm, yet we have a nice gentle ocean breeze most of the time. Sometimes it gets a little foggy, but it clears up within a few hours or a day or two. Many nice places to be outdoors in our town. By the ocean, in the woods or just window shopping downtown. Okay, I don't want to sound like a commercial for "Fort Bragg, CA" but this really is a nice place to live and thought I would express that here. Take care all who encountered my "Summer Post".

View From Pudding Creek Bridge

Today really was a wonderful day to be out at the beach or out in the fresh air. This is really a nice time of the year to visit our town. As you can see from the beach, even with the nice weather, there is still plenty of wide open space here to enjoy the day.

Not Much Posting Lately
Seems life has a way of keeping me busy lately, so I have not kept up on my blog. But just thought I would post this "non-type" of a message (much ado about nothing) just to put something here. I know I don't advertise my blog or anything, but if anyone comes across this message, have a good today. :-)

Color and its effects
To read more, go here: http://ow.ly/gxhq
"When a task requires attention to details, the presence of the color red boosts performance by as much as 31 percent compared to blue. But when the task demands more creative output, blue cues are a better choice than red by almost twice as much."
Depending on which type of intelligence you're looking to increase, here are four ways to get more color into your life.
1. Change the background color on your computer screen. When I'm working on word-smithing piece, I change the color on my Mac to a lovely, soothing and apparently creativity-boosting periwinkle blue. When I'm trying to get my inbox to zero and need to make decisions quickly, I change the background to an action-inspiring red swirl pattern.
2. Use a pen with red ink or a red casing when working on something analytical in nature and a green when attempting to write the great American novel - or tackling any other inventive and imaginative task.
3. Keep a mouse-pad wardrobe handy and switch out from red to green, and back again, depending on the task before you.
4. Paint an entire room in your office red and an entire room green. When you need to get everyone's right brain engaged in an innovative endeavor, hold your meetings in the green room. If the meeting calls for a left-brain gathering, try the red room.

Sunset Fort Bragg, California

Had a nice time watching this sunset the other day. I think all of us need to do things like that more often.

First Day of Summer Sunset

I am practicing my sunset photos. They are a challenge with my little camera I have. I still am enjoying my sunsets even if the photos don't turn out the way I totally would like them to. I still get a nice bike ride to the beach and back and get to enjoy the beauty. So nothing is lost at all. :-)

Fort Bragg California at Night

Just had a little stroll this evening and thought I would share our downtown area at night here. It was windy, but not really as cold as I thought it would be. Actually it was a welcome break from the heat we had recently. :-)

Look closely at drainage by street, smile

Click on the Photo to Enlarge - Managed to get a photo of this cute one the other day. The story behind this is I told my kids that I hoped to get some nice photos of creatures while I was out and about. So as I was riding my bike this little one walked out in front of me. I put on my brakes and they screeched and I said watch out to the little one which ran in the drainage place. I swerved my bike to across the street, luckily no cars were coming, I reached into my backpack, grabbed my camera and took this photo. :-) Nice this little one posed long enough before going on its journey down the drain somewhere.

Great Spirits
I am in great spirits today. I am focusing on all the good that is in my life. There is plenty of it. To feel more serene, I have stopped watching the news on TV. I may glance at the headlines just to get an "idea" of what is going on, but I don't watch it so much like I used to. It is a welcome break.
I am going to be happy that I am feeling in great spirits today. I think when we truly take the time to notice all the good in our lives we can feel much better about things. I remember a time I was down and out. I was hanging my head low on a bus stop bench on one of my long bus journeys across country. I guess I looked bedraggled and a man said to me, "Here is $20.00. Get yourself something to eat." I turned to him and said, "Are you serious?" and he said, "Yes, I can see you can use a little help. Just help someone else out some day is all I ask." So even in my down and out time, I got cheered up that day. I hope to keep seeing the good that there is all around me. Take care all.

Just being a nite owl
This is my just being a nite owl post. I will talk about the weather. It has been very hot lately. I really like it lots. Wonderful weather. This is probably the best time of the year to visit Fort Bragg although any time is a good time to visit here. I have been here since 1994 and I really like it here. Although, I have liked lots of places I have lived. It just seems this town is very nice and comfortable and I feel happy to be able to live here. And that does it for my nite owl post.
