Our Good Weather Is Upon Us

It was a great day to be out in nature in Fort Bragg today.

Windy Day

Today I took a walk to the beach with a friend. It was so windy. We brought some bread for the seagulls and got a bit away from the cliffs so the seagulls would have an easier time landing in the wind. Today you could surely call Fort Bragg "The Windy City". It still wasn't that cold though and I liked getting out. I did bring a nice cap to cover my head and ears though and that helped things out without getting too cold. I love how fun it is to see the seagulls hovering over our heads and just waiting for us to throw bread up in the air to them. I am grateful for where I live. I hope to go to the duck pond soon and perhaps catch a glimpse of baby ducks, too.

My American Idol Favorites

Watched American Idol tonight. My favorites are Adam Lambert, Kris Allen and Allison Iraheta. All three of them did so well tonight. I hope they stay in the competition until toward the end of the show so I can hear their good singing. I like watching this show. Probably because I can't sing, I really do appreciate it when I hear good singers. :-)

From A Learn To Watercolor Book

Just tried out an exercise in a learn to watercolor kit my friend gave me. I used watercolor pencils for this as they seem easier for me to handle. It was relaxing doing this the other day.

Great Day For A Walk

Today was real nice weather in Fort Bragg. Went for a walk kind of away from the ocean area today and it was so sunny and warm. Saw a little deer in a meadow. Perfect day for walking. I am looking forward to all this better weather we will have ahead of us.

Movies Lately

Movies I have seen lately were: Revolutionary Road at the movies and I really liked it. Good depiction of a struggling couple in the 50's with their marriage and their life plans. Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet did a great job at it. I think they both are such great actors! The movie was dramatic and emotional, but I did like it.

On a lighter note, I watched the DVD "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2" and at first I was thinking it was probably just for teens, but it isn't. It had good messages in the movie and was glad I finished watching it. It too was touching in many parts of it.

Then I saw an old 70's film called "The Passenger". Jack Nicholson starred in this and it was interesting to take a look back to that era. The movie was interesting, too. It seemed the movie moved slowly, but I still liked it and it seemed to depict the 70's outlook on stuff. Loved seeing Jack Nicholson again in how he looked back then. As I have always known, he is a great actor. It is so amazing he has been an actor all these years and a great one at that! One of my favorites.

Now of course I didn't give anything away on these movies as I am not a critic, but just posting some movies I saw lately. I think "Revolutionary Road" was the best of these.

Happy Spring

Pink and White Flower Tree at Spring

Overlooking Pudding Creek Area - Turkey Vulture Flying

This is a quick couple photos of a turkey vulture flying overhead. Usually they are cruising so quickly spying on prey it is tough to get them on camera, but I did get this one in these photos.

Spring Time At Glass Beach Area

This is a pretty scene of the cliff areas at spring. Nice place to walk along the paths. This is the best time of the year here. Although we did have a storm last night, but when the storms clear, it winds up being real nice out. Just have to make sure you get out there when it is nice. If you see the sun, get out while it lasts. That is my motto for living here as the weather does vary. Still, I love it here.

Crayon Art Work Just For Fun - Easter

The creative art prompt at the Inspire Me Thursday site was "Swirl". I just sat listening to music last night and this is what I came up with. I think I will always like coloring no matter how old I get. :-)

More Photos From Fort Bragg, California

Just some more photos from around town. Lots of the big trees were by the cemetery. Actually the cemetery often has lots of life going on in it. A few times I have seen deer having a nice snack on the flowers. And the day I was there lots of robins were hopping all over the place. And of course little squirrels love to scurry around here, too.

When I was learning to drive my mom took me to a huge cemetery in the early morning hours. She said, "Don't worry you can't hurt anyone here." She did have a funny sense of humor - my mom. I like remembering those good memories more than the tough ones with my mom. :-)

Dedicated To A Hero Teacher

This is dedicated to a very caring teacher who was the wind beneath the wings of so many students. And those students will go on to be the wind beneath many other peoples wings. Dedicated to a "hero" teacher who passed away whose good works will live on!

Dedicated To One Of The Best Teachers

Recently a really great teacher passed away and he certainly is where these good ones are at now. No doubt about that. He will be greatly missed by many people, but he is as close as our memory and our hearts. His spirit can and will live on!

Robins Having Fun Together

Looking up at this tree, I saw many robins in it. By the time I got it together with my camera, many of them flew away, but still some were left in the tree. It is nice that it looks like spring will be here soon with the little flowers blooming already on the tree.

It Couldn't Be Done - A Poem by Edgar Guest

It Couldn't Be Done
Edgar Guest

Somebody said that it couldn't be done,
But he with a chuckle replied
That "maybe it couldn't," but he would be one
Who wouldn't say so till he'd tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn't be done, and he did it.

Somebody scoffed: "Oh, you'll never do that;
At least no one ever has done it";
But he took off his coat and he took off his hat,
And the first thing we knew he'd begun it.
With a lift of his chin and a bit of a grin,
Without any doubting or quiddit,
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn't be done, and he did it.

There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done,
There are thousands to prophesy failure;
There are thousands to point out to you, one by one,
The dangers that wait to assail you.
But just buckle in with a bit of a grin,
Just take off your coat and go to it;
Just start to sing as you tackle the thing
That "cannot be done," and you'll do it.

My grandfather had some really nice books of poetry. He was a doctor and he lead a busy life, but he still took time to take photos, travel and enjoy poetry and enjoy life. This is one of my favorite poems I read in one of his poetry books.

Somewhere Over The Rainbow - Judy Garland

Ran across this on Youtube today and I really liked it as a child and even now as an adult. Those were the days, those good old movies like The Wizard of Oz. Judy Garland could really sing and act well. Look at how cute Toto is being in this, too. :-)

Peace Artwork

Well, the creative prompt from "Inspire Me Thursday" was "fold" and this is what I created this evening. I didn't spend lots of time, but I still had fun doing this. I actually traced my hand for this one. It was relaxing just doing this. The little fan was to be all colored in, but I only colored a little of it after I "folded" it, but it would be fun sometime to do this again and really color it all in with different colors.

Peace Video

I just saw this video on Youtube and really liked it, so here it is.

More Flowers in the Winter

I will have to get out there again with my camera as flowers seem to be blooming everywhere. They are blooming much earlier than last year. This was our mild winter, so perhaps the flowers think it is already spring. Well, we have a little rain right now, so I am sure that will help things along, too.

Movie - Bobby

I get behind in my movie viewing. But I watched "Bobby" yesterday about Robert Kennedy. It was really a good movie. It really reminded me of the 60's. So many different scenes in there. And it had a whole back story of all these people who worked at the Ambassador Hotel or were visiting there (the place Kennedy was shot at along with others)I liked Demi Moore's role and feel she played a rich spoiled celebrity drunk woman well. And Ashton's role as a hippie was great, too. I think this movie is worth seeing, just have a box of tissue handy for the ending.

Fan Art for the Heatwave

Well, I tried to draw this flower by a fence. I then used watercolors, but it wasn't dark enough. So I color penciled things in and colored it. Then I noticed the flower was all off and not the way I wanted it. So I just turned it into a fan and can use it for our heatwave we are having.
